This is a reality. Great deal for the money. You definitely need to keep your air conditioning line covered. Mine had worn out. These were a perfect replacement. I like the silver on the outside. The extra material it keeps the foam from deteriorating. Nearly as fast easy to install, I like the thickness. It's definitely as good as anything. I've ever used before and peeling off. The adhesive keeps it stuck where it's supposed to be definitely a great deal for the money. This is a velcro secured insulated sleeve used for exposed hvac air conditioner lines/piping or as a protective covering for foam insulated hvac lines to keep them from degrading or as protection from damage. It seems pretty well made. See pic. The Amazon product page lists the dimensions of the sleeve as 72"L x 10.2"W and that matches the product's actual dimensions pretty well. Velcro strips line each long side of the rectangular sleeve so that the sleeve can be wrapped around lines/piping and secured with the velcro.....provided the wrapped seam aligns the 2 velcro strips. More on that later. The sleeve's outer layer appears to be made of a black colored 600D polyester material identical or very similar to grill cover fabric. The middle layer is described in the product listing as a pearl cotton material and the inner layer is a reinforced aluminum foil lining. The sleeve isn't very thick and it's 10+ inch width allows it to be easily wrapped around a foam sleeve encased hvac outside air conditioner line. In fact, that 10 inch width is so wide that on a lot of foam insulated piping the sleeve would wrap around the piping so much that the velcro strip on the inside would be covered during wrapping and not be able to attach to the velcro on the outer side of the wrapping. Wrapping the sleeve around so that the velcro sides fasten together leaves a maximum 3 inch diameter opening. Usage for smaller diameter applications would mean the velcro fastening srips would not align; larger diameter applications would leave an open seam. You can still use zip ties or duct tape to secure the wrapped sleeve instead of or in addition to the velcro fastening. There were no written directions with the sleeve. However, the Amazon product product page provides pictures of applications and also states that this sleeve can be cut to different lengths to adapt to specific applications. I don't know how cutting the sleeve to different length segments might compromise the structural integrity of the sleeve but may be unavoidable to effectively use it in certain situations. I have never used 1 of these sleeves before but figured I might be able to protect the foam insulation on my outside AC lines better from the elements and varmints (mice, squirrels, rabbits) who have chewed holes in some of it. Haven't yet put on my outside lines because I'm still trying to figure out a way to do it well without cutting the material. Will post results in update when done.
