KSO EVO vs KMD Sport vs V-Alpha
I’m brand new to Vibram FiveFingers, I’ve bought 3 different pairs.KMD Sport,KSO Evo,V-AlphaMy intention was to use one for outdoor running, one for the gym, and one for at home exercises (p90x + insanity). The idea of working out fast-twitch muscles using your bodies natural movement, in order to prevent injury appealed to me, so I thought I would give it a shot. I have ran 5 marathons and a half-Ironman in the past, but I am preparing for a full-Ironman, I do not intend to run an Ironman in Vibram. This is a preliminary review since I have only had them a few weeks. All of the shoes I am very happy with, the biggest complaint I suppose would be the KMD Sport size ran larger than the others for me. The Velcro is at the very edge. The important question I think is which one is better for which purpose.Of the 3 that I have experience with, I chose the KMD sport for outdoor running, my reasoning is that the bottom of the shoe is much thicker than the others, so I felt that they would last longer. There is a trade-off, the KMD sport is slightly less flexible than the other two. KMD sport uses 2 velcro straps to get a good fit, the others use a nice lacing system, that I wish more shoes had.The experience of running in them is very unique, you can feel the surface much more than you can a regular shoes, the slightest curves of the road are felt and your feet adjust to it, small pebbles can be felt, but I had no issues running in them (I did start with shorter runs as recommended).I chose the V-Alpha for home exercises because I got the blue ones and, to be honest, they look too dorky to go outside with IMO. The v-alphas are very comfortable, but my foot is a little wide so I sense a little tension in the middle of my foot, but it is not bothersome at all. The material on the V-Alpha is unique, Not sure how to describe it but it is soft, smooth, flexible and seems to protect against the wind slightly better than the others. I could see how some people say it feels like you aren’t even wearing a shoe, except my foot is fairly wide so I do feel it... but it feels good. The KSO EVO are my favorites overall, and I have chosen them to use at the gym. They do everything well, but the bottom of the shoe has only a thin layer of protection, so I thought they might wear down too fast for outdoor running. They fit great, look great (got the black and red ones) and I don’t have the same (slight) issue as I do with the v-alphas due to my wide feet.Happy with all of them, they are all good for different purposes.

Great for martial arts as well as running
Even as a novice runner who only started a few months before buying these--and was working on landing on my toes from the beginning--I still found my calves more sore than usual when running. It has taken me a bit of time (maybe a full month) to get used to them and I had to take it more slowly and carefully for a while. Now that I'm back to my pre-Vibram distances though (~3 miles three times a week), I love these.I also am a 2nd kyu in karate and I happen to find them great for doing kicks in. While the freedom of motion for my toes is not quite on par with being completely barefoot (particularly flexing downward), it is good enough that kicks in which I intend to hit with the ball of my foot with my toes pulled back all have the proper form. Restrictions on flexing downward also aren't enough to interfere with kicks in which I need to hit with the instep of my foot. Doing karate in regular shoes just isn't the same as being barefoot, but these are extremely close!I love having the freedom to perform my karate routines anywhere now, no matter what the ground beneath my toes is like. If anyone is thinking about getting these with martial arts in mind, I would absolutely recommend them for that.Shoes feel tight at first so you may get the impression that you've gotten the wrong size, but they do stretch to your feet over time. I followed Vibram's sizing chart carefully and feel like I got the right size.I have heard that these develop a powerful odor due to not wearing socks that is difficult to get rid of once you have it. I have been careful to keep my feet clean before putting them on and sort of air them out when I take them off, and I haven't run into a stench yet (about a month and a half old now). Hope that doesn't change in the future.

Solid toe shoe
Finding the right fit on these is tricky. I went through 3 different sizes in 2 different models until I finally found the right fit and right feel. Overall the shows are comfortable. I wear them to run on road and they do the job. Not as much front padding as my Adi-pures so my feet start to get sore after mile 6. Better toe support than previous shoes. Great for just walking around; light weight and snug fit without feeling constricted.Have not taken off road yet but my previous toe shoes did not fare well so I may keep these on the pavement.

light and nice design
well, I recommend to go to a place where to try it first, my pinky toe at first became sore and my entire feet felt injuried. BUT I ran about 5K with them on a rubber/Tartan circuit. Then someone explained to me that little by little I was going to get used to. So then after two days I ran 1K and did crossfit with them and I felt OK!I wonder If there are a kind of Vibram to run long race whitout injuries. So, It fitted me a bit large and more on the pinky toes didn't reach and the shoe was too separated on the pinky toes.I liked but I wish they would be more comfortable. I hope to get used to them and use them more often and write more reviews about them :)! thanks for selling.

Fit for purpose... and then some.
Two years ago I broke my neck and am now on the rocky road to recovery. I am in the army and although I have always passed all the relevant fitness tests, I have also always struggled with steady state running. I encountered these trainers for the first time at a martial arts training session just prior to my injury. The colleague with them swore by them, saying that for athletes who regularly train barefoot they were the perfect footwear for running.I reached the point where I could start running properly again so I figured it was a good time to try and improve my running style. My concept was that as martial arts were my preferred exercise regime I should try and apply as much of the body mechanics and stresses as possible to my running... and it worked!I no longer feel like running and martial arts training are worlds apart. With these trainers I feel more in tune with my body and can make use of the muscles groups that are already developed. The back and knee pains I typically experienced on a hard run are a thing of the past as the shock of impact is properly dissipated through my lower leg. The rapid fatigue I expected never happened because the flexibility in the shoe allowed me to relax my body during running and therefore conserve energy. Even running on uneven ground (a common concern from people considering using them) proved easy and safe: It seems that the flexibility the shoe grants your foot allows you to 'smother' rocks that would normally cause discomfort to tread on with a hard-soled trainer that forces your foot to remain straight. This smothering again dissipates the impact. I am no scientist but my understanding of body mechanics and anatomy convinces me these shoes accommodate a more natural way of running. In summary then, I'm no fan of running. I prefer short explosive exercise with periods of recovery. These shoes have, to an impressive degree, allowed me to apply the natural movements I am familiar with (and physically/physiologically suited to) to running. As an added bonus, they're excellent as a trainer to use if the conditions for martial arts training don't lend themselves to going barefoot (such as a dirty boxing gym floor or outdoor training area). I cannot recommend them highly enough.

They are great
I read a number of books about barefoot running after visiting a running shop and finding out that I naturally run on my forefoot. I was suffering from ankle pain and I wanted to find something to cure this. Sports massages and compression socks helped but did not solve the problem.Once I knew I was running on my forefoot but in trainers made for shod running I knew I had to change my running style or my shoes. I choose the Vibram because I wanted a minimal shoe, that protected my sole over long runs and they look cool.I originally ordered the KSO in a size too small. After many emails with Richard of Loscarla I settled on the Komodo as I run both off road and on road. I also used the size guide on Loscarla's website to make sure I had the correct size. They fit perfectly and are brilliant for both road and off road running.I started by running a couple of miles at a time and am now starting to increase the distance to 4 - 6 miles. My calf muscles do tighten up towards the end of the run but I am not suffering from the same pain I was before which stopped me running. As my technique is improving and my legs are getting used to it I can go further and faster. You do have to concentrate on your technique whilst learning to run in these shoes.I have not had any blisters or discomfort and they are now very easy to put on.I am working towards running a marathon in January and if things remain the same the training will be a pleasure and injury free.
