Great value and fantastic performance
I needed to replace the rear shock on my 2013 Salsa Spearfish and found the DNM when searching Amazon for one of the $300 name-brand shocks. Given the price, I was a little worried about the durability and performance until I read some of the reviews. In the interest of science I decided to give it a test, and am I glad I did! The Salsa has always been a little soft in the back, sucking up power and making the bike less than effective as a cross-country racer. Higher pressure would help, but response suffered. The "pro-pedal" position had no effect. The DNM shock has transformed my bike and on the first ride with the recommended setup I beat my best time for our 10-mile XC circuit. Talk about impressed! The second loop was even faster. It has two chambers so compression and rebound can be finely tuned. There is also a rebound damping wheel and a lockout lever that actually works. I found the motion was so well controlled that I didn't need the lockout. Installation on the Salsa was difficult and required some tools that the average person might not have. Watch the video on Amazon as there are no instructions included with the shock! I needed to remove 2mm from the metal sleeves that insert through either end of the shock, and I needed to remove 1 mm from each of the plastic bushings that press over the end of the sleeve. They supply longer ones you can cut down if you have a steering column cutoff clamp but it seemed easier to take a little off the original parts using a bench grinder. The sleeve quickly heats up so I had to come up with a way to hold the part. After grinding I had to use a rat-tail file to clean up the bore and a mill file to clean up the ends. The bushings were easy to trim using the side of the grinding wheel. By the way, the video on Amazon that demonstrates modifications shows the metal sleeve being easily pushed out with fingers but I had to use a hammer and drift. All's well that ends well. Buy this shock if you need a replacement - you'll be glad you did.

I'm Impressed
Excellent shock for the price! Holds air, runs smooth, no complaints on the compression. The neg air chamber and rebound damping work well too. Although, like other reviews have noted, the rebound dial doesnt take effect until 4-5 clicks till the "slowest". Not really a prob, ya still got a couple good settings in there. I'll edit this review if I figure out how to change its effectiveness :) ---- will it fit a hyper hydroform? My specialized was stolen, so I did the Walmart challenge on a hyper hydroform ($58 on clearance lol). This shock fits the mounts, with 0 modifications. The included bushings fit nearly perfect. Some nylon washers filled in the slight top bushing gap of like 1/16" per side (recommended). I opted for the 200mm AOY, as opposed to the stock 190mm found on the hydroform. This bumps the rear travel up a bit, and allows me to run a little less pressure (plush) since the cantilever angle is more linear (185lb rider). It's slightly diff Geometry unloaded, but ya got more play to compensate sag. Anyways, great shock. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another!

Good sock hard install.
This shock seems well built and has all of the features of a more expensive shock. I bought it to replace my fox float on my 2008 Cannondale lefty. I have not ridden with it yet on trails but from around the house after getting it to recommenced pressure it feels good. I gave it two stars for install. I have seen 5 min install videos for it and can believe it but with my old lefty it took trimming the inside bushings. Very slow process to not take too much off but it worked. Also I had to remove all the air from the shock to get it to line up with the upper frame. The hardware it came with was not even close to mine so I went with modifying my stock ones and good a quality fit. I will update my review after I test it completely. All and all good shock for the price if you are willing to overcome some obstacles if you donโt get lucky with a plug and play on your bike.

Good swap for the mongoose salvo comp alloy
Swapped out for the stock rear on a mongoose salvo comp alloy. Took some fabricobbling to make the spacers fit, but a massive improvement in ride and ability to soak up bumps vs what came on the bike. Seems to hold pressure well too - so far so good.

Would highly recommend!
Wow! I highly recommend for the price! I went from a non adjustable very squishy rear shock. So this was a big improvement! I am a pretty thick boy, on a pretty heavy e-bike. And it seams to be performing beautifully after putting hundreds of miles on it. Iโve only set the psi when I got it and havenโt had to add air since. It was very easy to install and didnโt seam to add any weight either!

All the adjustments work so well especially the damper. Take your cheap oem shock and chuck it .This was the best 150,00 I spent in a long time . Update 3 months later and 600 + km's on snow trails this winter it is still perfect and never had to add any air at all . Great product and a reasonable price, 6 star now .

I have a mate x and the original rear shock is poor quality, it kept bottoming out on bumps anything even gravel. Now with this shock once you set up the air chambers itโs amazing no sore backside anymore so worth the money. Note for Road use it also has a lockout so even better.
