A Toolbox In The Hand Is Worth A Lot.
I needed a good multitool for some emergency kits I'm building, so I compared a few to see which one would be better for my needs. I have been a Gerber fan for many years, but I decided to try out the Wingman because of price, features, and that it's still made in America. Leatherman prices on Amazon are about 20 percent less than for similar Gerber mutlitools, so that was a primary consideration. The Wingman definitely fit my budget for this project. The Wingman has all the features that I require from a multitool, including scissors, a decent blade, tools that lock, and an ergonomic design. I like being able to access the blade and scissors without having to open the tool up, making it very handy to use in tight or dark situations. The pliers are strong and easy to operate and the rest of the tools are sufficient for most jobs one would encounter in an emergency situation. Finally, the fact that the Wingman is made in America, clinched the deal at a time when most American products are more expensive than their Chinese competitors. Heavier applications need tools designed for them and the Wingman is a great tool, that's easy to use, for the jobs and situations for which I'm likely to need it. This little multitool is like having a toolbox in your hand and worth every penny.

Awesome tool!
The Wingman is by far the most useful multi-tool thus far manufactured. The reason? It can be easily carried with you at all times so, you have it with you when you need it. All other multi-tools are either too large to carry in a pocket or too small to use as a tool. This is the perfect size/weight to be carried in a pocket of your pants. The pocket clip allows it to be right where it needs to be when you need it. It seems to be sturdy enough to hold up for decades of use (I plan to test it out for that long!). I have larger multi-tools with more tools. However, I'm not going to wear a pouch on my belt on a daily basis (there are times for that, but not every day all day). I have smaller multi-tools that easily fit in a pocket. However, other than clipping my fingernails, they are useless. I carried a pocket knife for years and years until, I purchased this several months ago. I have carried it everyday since. The price is a great value. I've bought 5 more to give away as gifts. And, it's made in the USA!

Nice Medium Sized Multi-Tool
Its a pretty nice multi-tool , the blade is sharp too! Don't ask me how I know. But in all seriousness, I think that for the money this is a quality multi-tool built to Leatherman's high standards of craftsmanship. Of course since it is a multi-tool it doesn't perform any one function extremely well, but it is highly useful for a number of tasks. The scissors always come in handy and I like how you don't have to open the multi-tool to access the scissors or the blade. It is also worth noting that both the scissors and blade lock into place with a liner style locking mechanism. I found this feature to be excellent, though with the scissors it might take a little getting used to in order to make them lock. I've found pushing the scissors near the tip helps to lock them into place without much effort. I sort of have mixed feelings about how the rest of the tools deploy, you have to push them out from one side, then use a notch close to the pivot point to pull the tool out. This notch is quite a nice feature though as it works for people like me who don't have much in the way of fingernails to jam into things to open them. I kinda wish the tool would be made so you can pull the tools out without having to push them from the other side first, perhaps they could extent the notch out father, or perhaps I just have fat fingers. But either way I am nit-picking, and the tools works as you need it to. It comes in handy all the time. Overall a great tool to have. Especially if you can nab it for 26 dollars like I did.

Lots of Bang for the Buck
Pros: A leatherman tool for less than $25.00 Sharp blade accessible while the pliers are closed Fairly Light weight and compact Sturdy construction Has some basic tools everyone should never be without. Knife and Scissors lock in position Cons: Not as heavy duty / Sturdy as their premium models Pliers are pretty basic and do not have wire strippers- just wire cutters The scissors ok- not great- sometimes they bind cutting even thin materials Does not come with a sheath or pouch of any kind. (But it's less than $25.00) Overall: For the Money it's tough to beat. I have bought several of these and given to friends to put in the bike/hiking pouches or in their cars. I use the pliers and knife frequently and they are great. This is the tool you "loan" out when someone asks to borrow it - not your Leatherman Charge ALX 6061-T6... You may get your Wingman back. Loan out your Charge ALX and you'll be ordering a replacement.

Nice price/feature package with all the tools you might need
Leatherman really seems to have hit a nice spot of features/quality x price on this tool. Unlike its more expensive Leatherman cousins, the Wingman will not set you back a few hundred dollars to own it. The steel used in this tool is not the absolute highest quality grade steel, but it's on par or better than most other tools that sell for much more. On top of that, the best multi-tool is the one which is always in your pocket; paying too much for a tool may give you second thoughts on using it for every situation. In the case of the Wingman, losing it will mean you only lost a couple tens, so no drama. The Wingman is the "urban version" of the Sidekick. It has a big pair of pliers, scissors, and the usual flat/philips drivers with a wire stripper (two flat drivers, actually,) a pretty decent half/serrated knife, a wood/metal file and a bottle/can opener. It also comes with a ruler on the side, which despite its short length, can be pretty handy. On top of the features above, the main pliers and the scissors are spring loaded, which is a definite plus. The tool is actually larger than it seems and fits well in the hands. I was really impressed that they could put out such a nice tool in this price range. If you prefer the "camping" version of this tool, buy the Sidekick, which has a wood saw in place of the scissors and also comes with a carabiner that includes a hex driver and a bottle opener.

It's a great tool, I've had a few in the past ...
It's a great tool, I've had a few in the past and they have help up nicely. I bought my new one 3 weeks ago and the joint already broke in two different places and it rusted up so bad to the point I was having problems opening up the knive and scissors. I was really surpirsed because I hadn't had any problems with my other tools other than basic wear and tear from salt water and use. I'm going to send it back and hopefully the next one will live up to its reputation. Still think it's an awesome tool, just not this last one.

Best tool ever!
This took is great! I use it all the time, and it has stood up to some light abuse no problem. I absolutely love the pliers on this tool, the spring on it has the best feel of any tool I've ever used. Get one and tell me it's not the most satisfying spring back. Very useful list of tools available on this thing. Scissors are really great, sharp, and have a spring back. Nice coarse (but durable) file, makes chips like there's no tomorrow. Love the knife too, it has a serrated and smooth section, really versatile. All in all, this is the perfect every day carry multitool. It's small, perfect weight, and packs a lot of features into one tool. Will be purchasing more so I can have them everywhere I go.

Cheap, light, okay
Most of the tools are ok, but the wire cutters are a worse design than is on most leathermans due to a built in gap that only closes when the plier head flexes. They even struggle with easy tasks like clipping soft plastic zip ties. The scissors are just ok. Big, but off axis with the pivot so they struggle with anything tougher than paper.
