Impressive and Solid Multi-Tool
I, like many of you, have purchased many different multi-tools. Some last longer than others and up until now I was a Gerber baby. When I saw this tool I decided to switch teams. What sold me? The hammer. I have broken several multi-tools trying to use what I thought were sturdy sections of the tool to hammer in stubborn parts on whatever I was working on. Seems a silly selling point, but just that little functional addition pushed me towards owning this. The second piece of brilliance isn't specific to this tool, but this tool really is able to maximise the potential. The bit drivers. I never would have thought thin rectangular bits would be useful or durable, but again Leatherman made me a believer when I discovered this feature on their CX tool. The way the bits are interchanged, the unique way the compartments for the bits are set up....all of this impressed me. I purchased the bit driver assortment pack and have been wowed by how many different applications I can use this tool for now. There are not a lot of features on this tool when you compare it to regular multi tools on the market. What this tool has is what is needed for its intended mission, which is to support feild maintenance on a weapon. I don't need twenty quadrillion hidden tools flaring each and every direction, and that was selling point number three. With its solid construction the MUT benefits from the less is more principle. You don't have to worry about a part breaking down or fumbling for what you need. Everything except the pliars is accessable from the closed position and you can feel how rugged every part of this tool is. CONS: I would prefer if Leatherman adopted the removable triangular wire-cutters that most military Gerbers have. That's just a gripe on my part, but it was nice to know that 1 part on my tool had 3 lifespans before needing replacement. The small bit plastic holder on one side of the tool is way too tight. I feel like I am going to break the tabs when I try to remove the bit. I would like it if Leatherman substituded carbon fiber for the plastic, since carbon fiber has more lubricity and better strength.

First impression
I've been using multitools for as long as I've been using tools, starting with fence pliers forty five years ago. My favorite current tool is the Victorinox. I have had Leatherman and Gerber tools previously but they always broke. Just for the record, I did break a Victorinox once as well. All the breakage were due to the use of castings in the plier jaws and the Victorinox seem to have at least, a better casting. I like the MUT. It has good feel and seems well made. Of course it too has suspicious casting marks on the pliers jaws. As the parts are replaceable, (a real plus) I hope some industrious person mills out some after market pliers jaws and hammer head (I'm sure that it's a casting too) out of some forged steel so I can replace these potentially fragile parts. The MUT seems like a nice sturdy tool with good fit and finish. Everything works well with no looseness. We'll see how well the little plastic liners hold up. The Chinese case at first seemed a total waste of material. The pocket for the wrench seemed too short causing the wrench to stick out, not allowing the case to fully close. The belt loop seemed too long It goes from the center of the top of the closing flap to the bottom where it snaps in place. The horizontal loops(there are four) are very narrow and now I think it was designed so the vertical strap is fed through the horizontal straps, customizing the fit to the belt. I also find that the wrench can be inserted down through the top horizontal strap and the snap at the bottom will keep it from falling out. So the pouch works well enough and the little pocket on the front can be used for something else In conclusion, I am glad I got this MUT, I think it will do just fine if consideration is paid to the force applied while using the potentially fragile, cast parts. One can say that it has a good guarantee against breakage, but tools always seem to break when you needed them, so this warranty is not great comfort in the field. Granted, if someone made a multitool that used forgings in critical areas, the tool would cost twice as much, but I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

SERIOUS Multi tool....MUT...Military utility tool
Wow this is the real deal... it’s so well-made out of the box it’s very stiff and needs to be broken in, I used a little gun oil to help lubricate the points that move. After opening and closing tool a couple hundred times it worked itself into a very easy to control yet still has Enough tension feel, Knife blade is one of the sharpest I’ve ever got out of the box, and the longer screw driver is what’s definitely needed. The knife blade is one of the sharpest I’ve ever got out of the box, and the longer screw driver is what’s definitely needed. The sheath that it comes with is very High quality however I think that’s the one part that’s not made in the USA. No complaints on the sheath other than where it’s made. This seems a little heavy for every day carry but so far I’ve carried it last week everywhere I went with no issues and after a day or two forgot It’s on me. The sheath fits my 2 inch tactical belt perfectly using the Molly to Cinch it down. The clip that comes on the tool itself is a little smaller and more for a pocket then a tactical belt. I would definitely recommend this with the caution that it is bigger and heavier than most but that’s why love it I’m not sure my dad would carry it but I’ll carry it everywhere. I took a picture with my raptor shears to show the size.

Cool tool, but not practical for most people
This was a cool tool with a tough “military” design, didn’t really make sense as an everyday carry. Mostly sturdy, although the punch tool broke off quickly. Nota huge fan of leatherman’s serrated blade - in general it was not a very refined edge for such an expensive knife. Maybe if I had an AR-15 I’d get it, but I don’t think that many people actually buy this for that purpose. It did have good pokey and gouged bits for getting crud out of deep places though.

This multi-tool has a very good plyers. The tools are easily accessible from the closed tool. The knife is vert flimsy. Not as good or as sturdy as the leatherman or Victorinox multitools with plyers. I am disappointed that the product is not as durable as expected.

I have had my MUT for a couple months now and have to say that it is an excellent tool. I often carry it with me and have used it for cutting, tightening screws, removing screws and doing some wiring. Hunting season starts soon and I will also be using it at the shooting range. I couldn't be happier with a multi tool.

Excellent peut être transformé en MUT EOD avec le part kit. Ce qui évite la pince à sertir qui ne sert pas souvent

So I owned a mut eod for many many years and I lost it about a year ago and I missed it a lot but the only problem was I couldn’t use it at work (Canadian armed forces) because the crimper doesn’t meet our safety standards so I always wished I had normal pliers so I purchased the mut and I received it today and leatherman has changed them a lot I’m not a fan of the plastic parts that used to be all metal love the stainless steel look really miss my c4 punch and the plastic seat for that option and the wrench that came with the old eod one came with a double end wrench in 3/8 and 10 mm if I remember correctly I miss that too otherwise I love this tool it’s quite solid but I also hate black cloth holster I wish they only came in tan brown or green or leather if they wanna do black it just stands out too much Btw the new firearms punch is far more solid then the old one
