Guidecraft Rainbow Blocks – Sand: Wooden Sensory Building Toy, Skills Building Stacking Blocks for Kids, Multi-colored Sensory Block Play Set for Toddlers

I bought this for a young child who has some sensory issues, but this well built toy would be just as much fun for a young child of any type. The water inside is brightly colored, with glitter mixed in, and just enough air to allow the water to rush around when the block is shaken or turned. The wood is unfinished, but very smooth. They were generous in building the frame for these blocks, so they're very sturdy, and well balance for building towers. I may buy more of these to donate to the school's sensory room, and I definitely recommend this brand.

I bought the sand, water and bead blocks for my one year old granddaughter. She loves them! She looks through them, shakes them and is just starting to stack them. They are of very good quality so are very durable. The also do well when added to other quality wood block sets.2011 Update: Two years later and these blocks are still enjoyed by granddaughter (now 3 yrs old). The water filled ones are still clear, not cloudy, and still no leaks which happens with some cheaper sets. Still give them a 5-star!

My 15-month old loves these, even though he doesn’t really build with them yet. The water is colored and sparkly, and he’s dropped them many times with no damage to the blocks. I love that you can hold them up to the sun and learn about color mixing.

I saw these and just a good feeling about them-was hoping they'd be worth the price, after all, there is only 8 blocks in each set..and they were! They are balanced, sturdy, attractive, but best of all, they appeal to our autistic young daughter- they command her attention and concentration as she stacks and build with them, and engages with these for longer than foam or small wooden painted blocks. I really, really like these and still may buy a second set! :)

i have ordered two sets of these blocks. I gave one set to my daughter for her first birthday. She loves them, but one of them cracked and leaked some fluid. They are still nice, but that was disappointing. She didn't have them long at all before that happened.I recently ordered the second set as a birthday gift for a cousin's daughter (I forgot about the cracking issue and other than that they are great blocks).. And at least one of the blocks arrived cracked already!The blocks do not come padded in any way in the manufacture's box.. Maybe that is the issue..? I can't say when or how exactly this is happening, but the manufacturer needs to give it some consideration. Awesome toy otherwise, though. I'm a Guidecraft fan.

I ordered these along with PLAN TOYS WATER BLOCKS which are also available here. The Plan Toy blocks are better quality with perfectly smooth wooden surfaces while these blocks have some roughness to them - i am afraid the kids might get a splinter from these. Also the water blocks add a new dimension to the fun as water is transparent and my 2.5yr old invented new games by holding a colored water block against his eyes and enjoy watching the world around him from a different hue. Also he likes when he place those blocks by the lamp and they cast colorful shadows. As to the strength of these sand blocks, he like to shake these and enjoy the "snick-snack" sound that the sand granules make. But if i had the chance to examine both sets in hand before purchasing, i would definitely have bought two of Plsn Toy ones. This toy itself is not bad as you can see from my ratings, it just pales against a higher quality counter-part.

My little loves the colors and building with them. Perfect addition to our open play! Sometimes they look foggy, like a windshield, from the inside which means maybe air is getting inside somehow. So at some point I’m sure they will be leaking. Hopefully not. We loves these.

These blocks are so pretty to look at and my 2 yr old grandson loved them. He was on the floor playing with them and the sun was shining in and they were just shimmering in his tiny hands. Easy to stack!
