Whiter and brighter than Silverstar Ultra
I installed these bulbs side by side with brand new Silverstar Ultras and there is no comparison. Do note however, it's really not a fair comparison as these bulbs are 100 watt and not DOT compliant. That being said, these bulbs give their white appearance by using a coating on the bulbs to bring out the nice bright xenon white light you're probably looking for. Usually, this filter will make a legal bulb whiter, but also less bright because of the light the coating filters out. By contrast, these high wattage bulbs are xenon white and are just as bright as an uncoated high performance DOT legal bulbs because the extra wattage makes up for the lost brightness of the coating. The brightness seems reasonable enough that it shouldn't draw the attention of any law enforcement. I didn't have anyone flash me during the week or so that I used them. Ultimately, I ended up taking them out because I couldn't get Hella to respond to my inquires about whether or not these could be used without upgraded wiring (they are supposedly drawing twice the wattage of a legal bulb, after all). I'm also concerned about what affect the extra heat might have for my headlamp housing. I'll miss these bulbs - they are the best looking non-xenon bulbs I've seen and the price just makes them that much sweeter. If I can ever confirm their safety in my vehicle, these will no doubt be the only bulb I'll ever buy.

I knew it was to good to be true.
Well these lights were nice however by me and my own negligence I ended up frying my headlight retainer. Took me a little bit to realize why. But when I read the bottom of the plastic retainer it said 50 watt Max and these lights were 100 Watts so it was just too much power for those retainers to hold. No damage to the headlight replace retainers lights worked as usual. But I like to clarity a few flights and they seem like they were going to last a long time but then I never got full use out of them due to the fact I didn't realize the specifications for the car

Great Deal
These bulbs look great. They produce a light blue light, not the weird blue you see from cheap competitors. I am using them on a 2007 Mercedes. Lot of people told me it would screw up the electrical system because of going from 55W per bulb to 100W. Had them in for couple of weeks and so far no apparent issues or visible changes to the wires, leads, socket or even the headlight housing. I was a loyal user of Silverstar bulbs, but replacing those things had become a ritual. Hopefully these will last a little longer. Don't let anyone tell you any different, they are noticeably brighter, at least using Mercedes headlamp housing. Just to compare the Silverstar to the new Hellas and not to look foolish going down the road, I only put one Hella in and had some friends check it out. Hands down the said the 100W Hella bulb look brighter and just cooler.

Perfect color but could be brighter.
Don't let the elevated wattage (100) persuade you into thinking that they will be any brighter than a standard 55-watt bulb. If anything, the additional wattage is heat, certainly not brightness. The bulbs are adequately bright but just not as bright as the regular halogens I've used in the past. I attribute the somewhat (and it's minor) diminished brightness to the blue coating. Speaking of the blue coating, I was worried that they would give off that cheesy, UV bug zapper look. Nope. The color of the light is exactly what I was hoping for: very white with just a tiny hint of cool color temp--very LED-like. When turned off, the blue coating reflects within the headlight assembly and looks unique in a pleasing way. I like the bulbs a lot, but not totally sure I'll replace with the same in the future--I might look for brighter alternatives.

dangerously dim
These bulbs are so dim that they are flat out dangerous. When we got a new (to us) car, one bulb was out so we just got replacements and opted for these as they were advertised as super bright. Afterward, we both noticed the lights were extremely dim, but the plastic was cloudy so we assumed that was the problem and paid for restoration, which didn't help. Replacing the bulbs with brand name immediately fixed the issue, which means it was these bulbs. My husband is lucky he didn't die driving home in the dark with these bulbs. They're not even as bright as the flashlights in our kitchen. I don't think they provided much more light than he'd have gotten taping two phones with the flashlights on to the front if his car. Purchase at your own peril.

Bright but only lasted two years
One of these bulbs burnt out, just over 2 years old, almost to the day. They're nice and bright but don't seem to really penetrate the darkness if that makes sense. They did help compared to my old ones, but burning out so quickly is a big bummer.

Great bulbs
I am always hesitant to buy anything unless I read a ton of reviews first and I've been super impressed with the number of people willing to take 5 minutes and better the online buying experience for the rest of us. So this is me giving back to the community. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these lights. They replaced the stock low beam headlamps on my 2010 C300 Mercedes and what a difference. I actually thought there was something wrong with the stock lamps but when told by the dealership that infact they were fine, I knew I had to find a replacement. The Hella Xenon Halogen 100W bulbs are amazing. The temperature is much cooler than stock but the change in night brightness and distance vision is exceptional. I don't have to use the hi-beams anymore. They also have the upscale appearance important on luxury vehicles. Save the money on the true Xenon upgrade at the dealership and get these bulbs. I can't comment on longevity, as I've only had them for a few weeks, but will report back.

Looks & works excellent in mk7 GTI
**1 Year Update** still going strong with a minimum of 1.5-2 hours driving per day (often more)! well worth the money. Bought these as a replacement for my 2015 GTI bulbs when the driver side went out, and had a bad experience with the โplug and playโ LED bulbs in my previous vehicle (beam would never aim properly). they look great & perform even better. So long as you install them properly, even the 100w bulbs will have 0 issues in terms of affecting oncoming traffic visibility. I will likely stick with these as long as I own the vehicle
