A Great Value
I have had this item for months now. I don't bother to "release" the pressure (discussed in the instructions for it) and I do only fill part ways. If I get clogging I will come back and post my sins in a later update. I only fill about 25% not only because they instruct you to, but I don't use enough.. the oil has a tendency to get "randy".. that is to have a slightly "off" taste.. if you don't use it fairly quickly ...this is not a problem with the sprayer.. just that oils "oxidize" in the open air. I wash it after each "emptying".. they suggest you wash them every 3 months or so, so this works out nicely. The other reason to fill partway is that the air provides the "engine".. more air, longer sprays with one pumpup.. I bought two, one for olive oil and one for "salad oil" (whatever vegetable oil you like). The oil sprays nicely.. I thought it would be more of a stream, but it is atomized pretty evenly over the area. In fact it does such a great job that it will leave a "cloud of oil" floating around your kitchen if you spray holding it too far from your "target". I use it for salads, items to be browned (much more efficient than glopping it onto the pan), and for popcorn (love popcorn with olive oil.. or you could use a "butter flavored oil too I suppose) A negative is that I knocked it off the shelf onto the stove (about 3 ft drop) and it dented a bit (note it didn't break). This is due to the aluminum which is QUITE SOFT. They offer a STAINLESS STEEL version Misto Stainless Steel Olive Oil Sprayer of this same pump which may be considerably stiffer, but it is about double price. Contrary to others who have posted I find them to be pretty sturdy for a $10 item (was also "4 for 3" priced and "free over $25 shipping" as I recall), and based on the stream of reviews here, I think its clear they have improved it over the last couple of years. Which brings me to the second negative.. it is just too light and is slightly top-heavy.. the slightest tap (or if you don't set it squarely on it's base) and it topples over.. It would be greatly improved if they would weight the base with something heavy or perhaps shape the container to be larger at the bottom (of course that would take more shelf room). (edit 5/13/11): added links and minor updates. It also continues to operate reliably .. occasional cleaning is the only maintenance required) (edit 6/4/12): It has developed a slow leak through the nozel.. it works fine after pumping, but if I set it down for a few minutes, it will have to be pumped again.. not a major issue, but thought I'd mention it. If I listen at the nozel I can hear the leak. 6/20/12: A thorough, hot, soapy cleaning corrected this problem.. it now will hold pressure for days if I wish. After several years of great service I have raised my rating to 5-star. [edit: 8/2013] Still working, but I thought I'd add a note. I use EVOO in mine and I also don't keep my house very warm during the winter (50ish degrees F.) REAL EVOO and this will clog at low temps. I just heard on Dr Oz that 40% or more of "EVOO" sold in the US is "watered down" with cheap oils so as to raise their profit margin.. One test for EVOO is that if you put it in your refrigerator real EVOO will congeal into a thick gelatin.. "fake" ones remain liquid.

Nice, durable, functional
I have had this now for at least 5 years and it is still working well... So well, in fact, that I just purchased another one! I use one for olive oil and one for a home made herbal body spray, so they are for very different uses and the constitution of each is quite different: one is oil and the other is water and alcohol. Both work without a hitch every time. It is a useful size and it holds many sprays before needing to be refilled. Follow the directions and only fill it half-full-- if you overfill it, there is no room for the pressure to build up to get a nice, fine spray. When my oil master needs cleaning, the fine spray degrades into a thin stream. Hot water on and in the tiny plastic spray tube mechanism will flush it out. Just fill the unit with hot tap water and spray the water thru until you get a mist again. No dishwasher!!! The only thing I dislike about this is that when it is full (properly HALF-full!) the pump cover sits atop the sprayer loose and crooked. It looks funny on my counter top. Other than that tiny OCD complaint, you cannot beat this little device for years and years of consistent service and healthy eating (if you are using it for olive oil!), or misting (if you use it for other kinds of misting). It's even fine for plant misting! _____________________ADD-ON COMMENT! I purchased another one of these products. It jammed using simply water, not oil. I tried to clean it out, to "fix" it, to re-seat the plastic spray tube with the sprayer top, but alas! within 3 months it was thrown out. I do not know if the quality of the product has detereorated or if I just got a dud, but one experience is wonderful, and the other was a complete waste of time and money.

Stream, not mist
The first fill and use of this product was perfect. After that, it streams instead of sprays. I tried recommendations for cleaning, but no mist. I purchase this because I appreciate itโs replacement of store-bought disposable cans. However, because it is ineffective and unreliable, I do not recommend this.

Not worth the money
I have had (and been using) these for a few months now. I received it from a relative who very much likes their Misto sprayers. My OnLY issue with these sprayers is that I wish they sprayed while being held at maybe a 90 degree angle - they must be held much more upright to work effectively. (So I find myself tipping the bowl or pan I am spraying, an easy fix.) Plastic sprayer reviews seem to agree that the plastic will get to hold a smell after a while of use. Ugh! The sprays from the store have additives, such as anti-foaming agents, emulsifying agents to prevents ingredients from separating, propellants/chemicals used to drive the fluid out of the can,.. so I feel that the Miso sprayers are a healthier choice. First, I find that they work best when I do not fill them much. This way, the pressure can build by pumping and I can have it empty more often for cleaning. If I fill it as much as recommended, I find that I really ought to be cleaning it more often. I have seen comments about the spraying. There was a learning curve for me. I don't even count the pumps, because I found that 10-15 is often not enough (possibly because I fill it less). I pump it until I feel resistance, and the cap no longer goes all of the way down for the pump, or even until I can no longer pump the cap. With the container pressurized, I do not get the spittle, but I get a very nice spray. If the spray starts to die off, I stop & re-pump to pressurize again. So I have found that the spittle and drops come from not enough pressure. Pump it up again. Also, hold the sprayer more upright than perpendicular. I have sen comments about instructions to depressurize after each use. This does NoT mean after every spray. It means when you are putting the sprayer away for use at another time. Storing it while pressurized will quickly ruin the sealing ability. As with other sprayers (and even cans of spray paint), I sometimes (never always) turn the sprayer upside down & spray to clear the nozzle. Then I release the pressure. I have never had trouble with the nozzle clogging. Then again, filling with less oil, I may be cleaning the entire thing more often than other users. ** UPDATE: My above review was written in haste. This product simply does not last. One broke when washing after the first few weeks of using. There is an attachment on the bottom of the tube that goes into the oil that broke off when hand washing. There is no way to attach it back on to the tube. The sprayer does not work correctly without this piece. The second sprayer would spray a mist for perhaps the first four times used. Now it will only produce a stream of oil. Not at all what the product advertises or why I bought it. These were a gift, recommended from a relative. At the time, they did not know where the Misto sprayers they had bought and used years before were or why they no longer used them. After my 'issues' and longer discussions, it appears that they also had problems with this product and are sorry to have recommended them.

Cooking oil spray of your choice
These work well, I'm using them with olive and avocado oil. If you need more than a spritz you'll need to pump it up a few times. Being able to choose the type and quality of oil you're using is the reason I purchased this so I'm happy with this product

Works perfect
Works well as long as you don't overfill and overpump.

Should have passed on this one.
Never used much, seemed clunky with uneven spray. Ultimately, it just quit working. Nozzle would not depress and o-ring seal under nozzle seemed to be displaced or deformed. Tossed it in the garbage after trying to rehabilitate it with no joy.
