Unrivaled king of pens
The ultimate pen, the Lamy 2000 is obviously a statement of status. I have worked with the medium and fine nibbed variants. Both were the best writing experience I’ve had. Balanced weight unless you post the cap. Pair with an ink thirsty vellum and a quality ink to leave an impression. Note: they do not take a fall well. Keep somewhere safe l, maybe not a briefcase :)

Truly a beautiful fountain pen.
This pen is very fluid in operation and has a nice balanced weight. The brushed metal casing is expertly designed and machined. And the brushed clip and top cap provide a subtle variation to the overall design. It is a one-of-a-kind fountain pen that should provide years of use in a very distinctive package.

Scratchy
Fine point is extremely scratchy. Don’t have that experience with the Lamy studio which writes like a dream. Discounted in this one and difficult return process to Amazon UK

Cap came off the piston mechanism. Now hard to fill with ink.
I liked the pen but where you unscrew and crew to fill with ink (to work the piston ), the medal cap came off the plastic. Now it’s very difficult to fill with ink and that part does not go all the way down to the rest of the pen. I don’t know if I got a poorly made one or if they are all that way. It wrote great but that makes it not worth it. I would have given it 1 star if it didn’t write great in the beginning. Wish is didn’t come apart.

Nice, but heavy!
Very nice pen! I'ma big fan of the LAMY 2000 fountain pens, this is my second (this time I bought e fine nib as my original Lamy 2000 came with a medium nib). I gave it 4 stars because of the weight, the original Lamy 2000 is very light compared to the stainless steel version (no surprise there!)... If you're the kind of person that associates weight with quality, then you'll love this pen... But for me I found that I preferred the original's weight!

an epic thick solid section puts the weight comfortably further down the barrel
A very different pen from the original 2000, both philosophically and tangibly. The heft is significant, but not enough to weigh you down once you've lightened your grip on the pen and pressure on the page; an epic thick solid section puts the weight comfortably further down the barrel. The smoother detail work as compared the original 2000 is lovely: the clip edges are smoother (the top surface polished to a blinding shine), the texture less ingrained (and thus easier to wipe ink-free after a fill), and the finial is a little longer and more elegant. The quality of machining is quite good, but seams are visible and the texture is not perfectly uniform, looking very slightly pitted around the joint between piston knob and barrel. These are nitpicks, though. My only real caveat is with the sturdiness and durability of the pen: the piston piston mechanism is still plastic, and after a fall with this pen in my pocket, the mechanism snapped. And after a few months of use, the cap does have a very slight but definite wobble (both side-to-side and back-and-forth). It's 53g weight lends itself to a sensation of indestructibility, and so it is thus deceiving in its solidity--if you're buying this pen and thrash it (like I did), you'll possibly end up disappointed. If you care for this like you would a resin pen of similar quality, you'll most likely be fine. The nib is the same as the normal 2000--still with small sweet spot but in general excellent flow and smoothness--but the effective ergonomics of the pen are different, making the nib's feel slightly wetter and more expressive. This is the only pen of its kind on the market (an all metal piston filler), and overall, I feel many days there couldn't be a better one.

I have to answer and comment in english since my German writing would be a nightmare ... So, I am very happy for the purchase of this very nice pen with an "F" nib (nice and competitive offer for the metal model compared with the macrolon one) The very first experiment of writing is really in the line of the several comments seen on various "pen addict" sites The "F" nib is a comfortable "fine" nib , not very far from some "M" nibs in my opinion, and quite smooth (even on an 80g paper) I will have the opportunity to compare with an "EF" nib soon (from Lamy too : the Lamy Dialog CC) The shape is specific, and "modern" looking ; holding the pen is pleasant and not slippery as I was "expecting" it with a bit anxiety ! I did not try to unscrew the front part (rather very tight, and bad curiosity !) just in case of future maintenance (I will see with a "Lamy shop" as far as required) - Filling the pen is a no problem matter Enjoy the pen too when you dare make the step to get it in hand

There is a misconception regarding the "sweet spot" on this pen. The flat surface on the round tip is intentionally and precisely ground by hand, creating line variations similar to a stub tip. If you're looking for a pen to take quick lecture notes in class, this might not be the best choice. But if you want a pen for daily use and to appreciate your handwriting, I highly recommend it. This pen uniquely combines the characteristics of a round tip and a stub nib.
