A Must Have with any Kindle Device
I purchased a square trade program back in June of 2012 for my original Kindle Fire. I didn't have the chance to use it until this past December, so I never felt informed enough to write a review for the product. When need to use the protection program arose, the entire transaction was unbelievably easy! My device died on the Sunday before Christmas; I spent less than ten minutes of the phone with SquareTrade, and two days later I received a replacement device...on Christmas Eve! Unfortunately, I only bought the protection plan for my original Kindle Fire, not for the several other devices we own. I was never more sorry than when my son dropped his device and the screen cracked. The device works, but we're stuck with the broken screen. After the wonderful experience with SquareTrade back in December, I decided then and there that I will never again be without a SquareTrade Protection Plan!We just purchased a new Kindle Fire HD for our son. He just turned 4, so I was sure to purchase this protection plan for his device (he did crack the screen of his first device after all.) Delivery of the plan is super easy, via email and it is automatically applied on your account to the device with which it is purchased, so once you make the purchase you don't need to do anything else. But even if you purchase the plan separate from the device--which I did with the plan for my HDX--when you go into the "Manage Your Device" website you will get a message asking if you would like to apply the plan to the particular device on your account that matches the plan criteria. FYI, when I spoke with SquareTrade customer service back in December, the rep told me that the various protection plans, offered here on Amazon, may appear to be sold by different companies, but they are all the same SquareTrade. Just look for their logo. I highly recommend this protection plan. I will never be without it again!!!

Is it worth the aggravation?
Very Happy! My daughter managed to get her kindle wet. We even purchased the rubber protective child case, which I'm also very happy with. I literally just got off the phone with a representative. She was polite and friendly, there were no issues and a new kindle will be here on the first of Dec. The protection plan is most definitely worth the money!What's written above was written a couple days ago. The people from Squaretrade were great. Unfortunately, it's Amazon that I'm having a problem with. I'm wondering if I should just demand a refund for the protection plan and buy my daughter a different tablet. Amazon can't seem to send me the right kindle, I bought the protection plan for my daughter's kindle, both purchased on the same day. My daughter's kindle is pink with a camera, and they're sending me a black 3rd generation kindle without a camera. The kindle they're sending me, is the one I currently have for myself. I've explained this and my daughter's kindle is not registered to me. No one seems to be understanding me and I'm extremely frustrated. After they sent the wrong one, I called and spoke with someone and pointly asked him if the new one they were sending is pink with the camera. "Yes, Ma'am." I checked my orders to see they ordered the same one they sent the first time, so I called AGAIN and spoke with a lady and wanted to confirm that they are sending me the pink kindle with the camera. "Yes Ma'am!' only for it to arrive yesterday and IT'S NOT THE RIGHT KINDLE! But not only are these kindles wrong, they're refurbished. So now I have TWO refurbished kindles, and my daughter's broke kindle.One might think, who cares..just give your daughter the refurbished one, and I would normally BUT the one they're sending me is older than what I purchased AND the protective case that I paid for doesn't fit the old one properly.So now I have to call AGAIN, for the third time, and try to get the correct kindle. I'm starting to think this isn't worth it....I also have to package up the two kindles and mail them out. $34.99 = not worth the aggravation.

Most stress-free warranty transaction ever!
My daughter's Kindle was out of the protective case for approximately 20 minutes while I tried to find the time to get something sticky off of it. She didn't touch the Kindle until I asked her to bring it to me so I could return it to its little padded heaven, but low and behold, two seconds after she picked it up to give it to me, she dropped it and shattered the screen. [insert 5 year old dramatics here] I was already dreading the process of figuring out how to weed through filing a claim on the warranty protection and when I saw that I had to call a number specifically for Kindle warranties, my heart sank. I expected a 45 minute fiasco of button pushing and sketchy elevator music only to have to struggle to understand the broken English of a customer service rep halfway around the world.Not so! I called Square Trade's provided number and within 2 rings a very pleasant man with a very clear dialect answered the phone and within minutes he had me all set up to receive a brand new Kindle in just two days! The return process for the damaged Kindle is just as simple...an email with a link for a printable prepaid return label will be available soon and all I have to do is package it up and drop it off!I am so impressed and relieved!! Definitely worth the extra $35, and I will use Square Trade again for certain!
