Rush 24 vs. Rush 12 (College Student's Perspective)
Rush 24 vs. Rush 12 (College Student's Perspective)Okay so I purchased both the Rush 24 (left) and Rush 12 (right) and compared how each backpack would hold up during the day.I commute 1 hour to my University and I have class from around 10am to 830pm.I carry the following with me;- 13in Macbook air / charger- 4 notebooks- 1 or 2 books- 2 meals from home in plastic tupperware- Calculator / pencils / pens- 2 bottles of tea in glass bottles I drink for health reasons- Flashlight / Paracord / Pocket knifeNow I did fit all that stuff in the Rush 12 besides the glass bottles, but it was extremely tight and I had no where to put my bottles which is an issue. It felt kind of strange on my back like it was almost too small and the rubber pads where rubbing on my back.I put all that in the in the Rush 24 and I had a decent amount of room left over, maybe for a sweater or something else along those lines. The 24 is NOT THAT BIG. It's kinda big, but not obnoxious. I saw other students around campus had even bigger backpacks... **The rush 12 would be a great school backpack if you lived on campus or didn't bring your own lunches from home.**Overall the build quality is great on both backpacks and seems like it will last a long time.

Best Backpack Ever
------------- Quick Review -------------This is hands-down the best backpack I've ever owned. It is large and roomy, incredibly durable, and has great internal organization. It is perfect for college students with large books or travel anywhere from 3 days to a week long.-------------- Full Review --------------After extensive research, I bought this backpack for the purpose of travel and everyday use. I am an engineering undergrad student with a motorcycle, so I needed a good-sized backpack to carry my books, groceries, and other gear. I also enjoy traveling, and wanted something that would be sufficient for lightweight travel up to a week.** Size and Organization **The Rush 24 is a large backpack. It won't look out of place on its own, but if you add additional molle pouches and fill it completely, it can get a bit unwieldy for use around town. I have several molle attachments, but have found I generally don't need them unless I'm doing a backpacking trip. The main pocket is extremely roomy. Be aware that most of the organizational pockets expand internally, which means you can't expect to stuff the main compartment full AND use the internal pockets at the same time. This has not been a problem for me, and it actually keeps the outside dimensions about the same no matter how you organize your things. The organization on this pack is fantastic. To give a sense of size, the main compartment can fit two gallon-sized milk jugs side by side on the bottom half, while still having 45% of the upper compartment available. Alternately, it can fit two volleyballs, plus a towel and Nalgene bottle in the main compartment. I have also been able to fit one full-face motorcycle helmet (didn't quite zip all the way closed, but compression straps made it quite secure). As a motorcycle rider, this backpack has been crucial to me being able to buy and transport my groceries.Depending on how well you pack, the Rush 24 should be roomy enough to comfortably travel for 3-7 days. I have recently been getting into ultra-lightweight travel, and plan to take this backpack as my only luggage on a 3-week trip to Latin America. I have taken this backpack on numerous weekend trips with schoolwork, a week-long camping/mission trip in Mexico, and two 3-day backpacking trips (with additional molle pouches attached).** Durability and Construction **I have had this backpack over a year, and have not been kind to it. I am extremely satisfied with its durability. The one single issue I've had is the folded-over stitching on the end of one of the compression straps came slightly undone. This was very minor and was easily fixed. Apart from that, it has shown almost no major wear.Be aware that the Rush 24 is is by no means a lightweight backpack. It is made of heavy-duty material nylon molle webbing all over. It's about the largest-sized backpack you can comfortably wear without a waist belt. There are slots built in that do allow a 3rd-party waist belt to be added, but one is not included. I personally have done fine without a waist belt, though it would have been useful on both backpacking trips where I was overloading the pack to its maximum (had to bring full gallon of water with me on one of those). The shoulder straps are very comfortable even with a lot of weight. The molle webbing is super useful. There are four slots on the bottom of the pack for securing a sleeping roll. The black color definitely blends in more around the city, as the military molle webbing is less noticeable. If you plan to get molle attachments, be sure to check what colors those are offered in to see if they'll match. Be aware that Olive Drab and Sandstone/Coyote from other companies may be a slightly different shade (which may or may not be a problem for you).** Picture Details **Photo 1: 3-day backpacking trip in Sequoia National Park. 5.11 H2O Carrier, Black and Maxpedition 4.5x6" Padded Pouch attached.Photo 2: Rush 24 next to beach volleyball with 5.11 H2O Carrier and Maxpedition 4.5x6" padded pouch attached.Photo 3: Rush 24 size with pouches offPhoto 4: Grocery runPhoto 5: 1 Gallon milk + 4x 1.75 Liters of juicePhoto 6: Upper outside pockets are large and easy to get to. Excellent EDC bag! Thanks to all you reviewers - you made my decision easy.
Unlike most reviewers, I am a road warrior who travels professionally about 75% of the time. Hopefully, my review can help another group of users. I was looking for a solid pack to replace my well worn (but still serviceable) Swiss Gear bag. Mine is the one that looks like every other EDC bag on the damn plane. I wanted a bag with more storage pockets and a different look. As a business traveler, I did not want to look like I was going to or returning from maneuvers, and the double tap looked like it might be a little less tactical in appearance than the other options for the 24.I was a little concerned that it would be larger than needed, but the 24 seems only slightly larger than the Swiss bag. Like other reviewers, I tend to be very anal when it comes to packing for a trip, especially if I am headed across the pond for a week or two. The other reviews of the 24 sold me. I have had the bag about a week and love it. It has compartments in compartments in compartments! This is where the Swiss bag fell short. While it has several pockets, it wasn't enough to allow me to segregate my chargers, devices, notebooks, ID cards, extra clothes (I often check my roller board, so need one set of clothes JIC), rain gear, thumb drives, passport, blank I-95 forms, munchies, flashlight, etc, etc, etc. It's currently loaded for domestic warm weather travel, so is almost empty by caparison to a winter trip to northern Europe.BTW - I am combat arms vet and understand how a lot of what tactical pros (military, first responder, etc) are looking for in a bag. On weekend, a lot of office gear comes out and gets replaced with hiking and shooting gear.

Great backpack - Worth paying for
Overall very pleased, in my opinion it was worth the higher price and should hopefully last a lot longer than my previous cheaper bags.I have had a few cheaper (£30 - £40) backpacks over the years (both hiking and laptop style) but they have either been uncomfortable for long distances or just not lasted very long, with the straps or zips breaking. The Rush 24 is of a much higher quality.I made the decision to invest in one good quality backpack to replace 3 old cheaper bags I wasusing – shoulder sling style for daily commute, hiking style backpack for weekend hill walking / day trips and laptop style backpack for short business trips / air travel carry on. I was constantly having to switch things between these bags and losing or forgetting things because they were in another bag.The Rush 24 is perfect because it is one bag I can use for all ( daily commute, weekend walks / day trips, airline carry on)The bag meets the restrictions for most UK / EU airline hand baggage - British Airways, KLM, AirFrance, Easy Jet, Tui etc.The capacity is listed as 37 Liters but I have found I can fit more into the Rush 24 than I could into my hiking style backpack, which had an advertised capacity of 45 Liters – perhaps due to all the cleaver organization on the Rush 24.There are two side zipped pocket that are the ideal size for 500ml disposable plastic water bottles or say a compact folding umbrella. However I have purchased a MOLLE water kettle carrier (from HUNTVP less than £8 on Amazon) which I have attached so I can a large water bottle / Thermos flask. One thing I really like (that most other backpacks don’t have ) is there are MOLLE attachment points on the shoulderstraps so you can attach things at the front – I have a Pouch for my iPhone Plus on one side and a similar sized general purpose padded pouch on the other – which is ideal for things you want to access quickly or regularly without taking the backpack off your shoulders – Keys, Wallet, Cigarettes, Vape, Folding Knife, Air Pods, Compass, GPS or similar sixed items. You can customize the bag with additional pouches or attachments as you want, you could add pouches to increase capacity for a longer trip or to carry sporting / outdoor equipment at a weekend then remove on Mondaymorning to commute to work or to take the bag as airline hand luggage.

Is it worth the price?
I've owned this bag for 8 months, used it extensively and intensively in that time as kit-bag for path-building work in the Scottish mountains, and also a general gear bag for my daily excursions around the city. I now feel qualified to write a review for this product.Pros: It's certainly a sturdy daypack, very well built. I once put it to the test by carrying a 35-40kg chunk of solid quartz in it for 2 miles, I thought this might weaken the stitching that attaches the straps to the back of the pack, but to my surprise, the stitching held tight. There are a multitude of compartments for very detailed precise organising everything you could ever want to take with you on a day trip. I was still discovering new pockets months after owning it.The outside being smothered in loops for attaching karibiners, or tying stuff, is very useful. Even the arm straps have loops for this, which is good for easy quick effortless access to say waterbottle or 2, or gps, saving removing the pack repeatedly. The zips are tough, and dont clog with debris easily. The material the pack is constructed with is all reliable tough stuff.Cons: A quick access side pocket is sorely missed, for which snacks, maps, or a raincover can be stored. The most troubling design flaw I've noticed is the fact that the pack is not waterproof and any cover you try to use with it is innefective due to the straps attaching at the same level as the top of the pack - so when your weatherproof cover is employed, the water saturates the straps AND the top area of the pack including the small zipped storage compartment on the very top of the pack. During heavy rain, this is a problem because the water effectively soaks into the whole pack via the top, and the back. I've taken to using an ortlieb drybag to deal with this to protect anything valuable and susceptible to water damage while out on the hills. It's overpriced, too, for what it is and its size.

You get what you pay for. No locking fixtures on zips.
I’ve read a lot of article and watch a lot of video reviews of this bag before deciding to purchase it. I was a bit skeptical of how a £90 bag can earn so much praise!. How can a £90 bag pack such a fierce punch? I’ve decided to buy one and see it for myself. I received the bag in an over-sized amazon box; as usual; which ensured the content was well protected during transit & delivery. Unwrapping the bag is nothing unusual. For the past 15 years, I’ve used and own several Swiss Gear bags as I found them to be the right balance of price vs quality. Upon inspection of the interior of the bag, I discovered that this bag is made in Vietnam and NOT USA. The stitches are not the most impressive stitches I’ve seen. Comparing the Swiss gear bag, the gauge of the material is inferior (thinner) too. The shoulder strap width is small (for the weight it need to bear) and uncomfortable when the bag is fully loaded. The lack of the hip belt is a big letdown; as the bag jiggles around while hiking and your shoulder have to bear all the weight. The greatest letdown, is the lack of padlock holes on the zips means you can’t lock the bag. I took the bag on a mountain hike in China and at time we needed to leave our bags unattended at rest points. I felt a bit insecure as I know anyone could easily open the bag. I found the compression straps to be annoying as it overlaps the water and main compartment zip access. For £90 there might be better alternatives out there on the market. I prefer my old £60 Swiss Gear Bag over this one. Perhaps the US made bags are better quality and better workmanship.

Good, strong, medium-sized rucksack
A nice medium-sized rucksack with plenty of compartments. The main compartment is spacious and opens up like a suitcase, allowing easy access. There are internal mesh pockets to store small or delicate items safely. Two straps at the top hold the sides closed and take the strain off of the zipper. The front has two compartments. The larger front compartment is an "admin" area with plenty of pockets designed for pens, notepads, small books, phones, LEDs, batteries, keys, etc. The smaller front compartment has two seperate side-access pockets with mesh slips for holding smaller items that would get lost in the larger compartments. On top there is a strong carry handle and a felt-lined pocket for storing sunglasses. The side compartments can hold 1 litre or possibly 1.5 litre water bottles, provided they are not too wide. There is a slip pocket on each side, for holding something thin like a foil blanket. There is a hydration compartment as well, able to hold up to 1.5 litres. This compartment is well padded and could hold a tablet or, more likely, to safely store passports and travel itinerary. The straps are well padded and comfortable to wear. The materisl is 1050D cordura which is strong and water-resistant for about half an hour - it's not waterproof, but there are rain covers sold by other manufacturers to help keep the bag dry. The outer surface is covered in MOLLE / PALS and there is a large felt velcro patch on the front.
