Sennheiser Momentum Headphone - Brown

I like to stay up a little later than my wife and watch TV or play video games, and running the surround sound system, even in night mode, was too much for my wife. But I like my surround sound, so what to do? So I did some digging, read a lot of reviews, and discovered that these are considered some of the best headphones in the $300-$400 category. When amazon had them on special over the holiday, the choice became a no brainer and I picked up a set.First of all, Sennheiser understands the out of box experience. These are packaged very well, and the carrying case, though much larger than I'd like for a "mobile" set of headphones, was extremely beautiful and well made. Since the black were already sold out, I decided to get the brown since these were meant for home use primarily. Besides, the color looked good in the photo and even better in real life. It adds a little warmth to the look and some character and I wouldn't mind wearing these out and about with my iPhone since they look so good.Which brings us to the main point -- these are designed primarily for mobile use, it seems, with an iPhone cable coming in the package for volume control and all that. I wanted closed cans for quiet listening at home at night. Thankfully, they come with a normal non iphone cable for this purpose as well. This, however was one disappointment. The cable is very short and thin, and seems like it could get kinked and break easily. The connectors are designed to lock Into the headphones, which is nice, but a 2 foot cable or whatever this is doesn't go very far even though they give you the 1/4 inch adapter. I would have to sit with my head on the floor a foot from my TV to use this cable. If you want these for home use with your stereo, make sure to pick up the Monoprice headphone cable extension which is super robust.They fit fairly well, though I need to do some wiggling to get them to surround my ear. They're a little smaller than I'd like, but again, they are designed for mobile. I can get my ear inside, but if you have big ears, these will likely sit on top of ear and not around, and this is uncomfortable for me if I wear them on ear. If you can try them on somewhere first, I'd recommend that.The leather feels incredible though, soft and supple. The sound isolation is very good, even with no signal these block out quite a bit of noise (read: wife's YouTube playing on her laptop on the couch beside me).Add the sound though, and then the treat begins and all the quibbles fade away. These sound incredible! They deliver a nice punchy bass without muddying the waters, which is great for my purpose of listening to movies and games in surround and not just music designed to vibrate your head. I run a Dolby headphone processor on these to listen to surround sound movies at night and can hear a lot of nuance -- sometimes on TV shows a little too much of the soundstage artifacts show up, but that's the audio engineers problem not the headphones.I then fired up Battlefield 4 in headphone surround mode and was completely surprised at the sound, from big bassy explosions of a grenade nearby that made me feel like it was right next to me, to hearing the high pitched ricochet of a sniper bullet off the rock near my head so is a diving for cover. Incredibly immersive, and doesn't drive my wife nuts making the entire house sound like a war zone when I play. Then I switched over to some Bach ripped in Apple lossless on my ipad and it sounded crystal clear. Then some Aphex Twin to test the boundaries of the highs and ability to reproduce those quirky electronic warblings Richard James enjoys, and it never sounded so good. The highs sizzled and the bass was crisp and responsive as this kind of electronica demands. Breadth test passed with flying colors!Overall, these are a great all-around listening headphone, which is perfect for my multiple use of music, movies and gaming. They cover all the bases with a nice clear sound. They look great in brown, feel great on my ears, and if you can get them for under $300 are a steal. My only drawbacks, which I would give them a 4.5 stars for, would be the overly minimal wire presumably intended for home stereo use, and the overly maximal carry case, which will not fit easily into my messenger bag like my Bose case will, though will protect them very well and looks great on its own. Definitely overall a great choice for me.

Update: I noticed there is a little bit of differing opinions about certain sound aspects of the headphones. One thing I should point out is that these headphones are designed to be Circumaural (Around the Ear) headphones. If you try wearing them ON your ear... the sound will be quite a bit different. Bass Response is quite a bit reduced.. due the broken seal (you may even get bass crackle) and the highs won't sound quite as good... simply because you'll be putting extra distance between your ear and the driver.This can definitely be a problem... since the earcups themselves are pretty small. So if your ears are larger than average... it could definitely be a major problem.... but just get them and give them a try. IF they don't fit you... Amazon has a great return policy.That being said... I still love these headphones after having owned them for a couple weeks... and IMO.. the best sounding portable headphone I've listened to.Original Review Below:First I have to make a disclaimer and say I've only owned these for a couple hours now.But I've been obsessively trying to find a perfect pair of general-use headphones for the past month now... buying this and that...Just to run down the list... Logitech UE 6000, Bose QC15, Monster Turbine Pro Copper, The Astro A40 Headset, Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80.... Those are all the headphones I've bought and returned in just the past couple weeks... on top of just sitting in stores for hours trying to audition every headphone they had on the rack with the music from my phone.After all that... I finally found the perfect headphones for me. These are them. If I only own 1 pair ever... these are them.I don't know how Sennheiser did it... but what these are... are basically a small, light-weight, efficient version of the HD 650s. That is the best way I have to describe them. They are just soo unbelievably smooth sounding... so much detail without any of the spikes from other headphones. This means you can really crank the volume, hearing every detail with a great deal of intimacy without having to be worried about any kind of harsh high-end noise coming out of left-field... or over-bloated bass over-powering everything else... killing those details. And they are SO efficient... it's awesome... I plug them into my PS Vita and they STILL sound great... you just don't get that with most pairs of high-end headphones without some kind of amp.And when I plug them into my iPod 5.5 gen in combination with the e11 Fiio Amp attached the the iPod via Line-Out.... then these things REALLY, REALLY do shine. As well as they do when attached to my PC with it's Asus Essence STX sound card. The build quality is also incredibly rugged... simple... yet REALLY tough and lightweight. They come with a case... but i have no worries just throwing them in my bag naked... (I will update this review later if I have problems with that.... but they really DO feel super solidly built).Okay.. so I have to talk about negatives...All the possible negatives.-Like every headphone.... the sound signature may not be for everyone. I definitely would not describe them as forward and lively... but rather very laid-back.. but incredibly smooth with a lot of mid-bass through mid-range detail, that is just not present in most headphones... and probably not present in ANY other closed back headphone.... Maybe the $1000 Denons... but I've never tried those... and goodluck driving those without an amp. Out of all the headphones I tried recently... the Monster Turbine Coppers were also very nice.... but totally different... those had very nice, strong bass extension... and still maintained a good neutral sound... despite that... But relative to the Momentums... they lack the detail these have. I might still go back out and pick up a pair of the Turbine Pro Coppers again.. just to have as a backup and the isolation of an IEM.That's pretty much it... I can't think of any other negatives. Oh wait.. While these are comfortable to my ears... they are not as comfortable as the QC15s. The QC 15s are the most comfortable headphones I've EVER worn.I will update this review as needed... but those are my thoughts on these headphones.

Despues de estar escuchando por varios meses con estos audífonos, puedo ahora dar un veredicto, un sonido bastante equilibrado, trabaja bien cualquier genero, un poco incomodos para periodos de uso prolongados, pero eso depende mas del tamaño de tus orejas y el ajuste de la diadema sobre tu cabeza. El Soundstage es lo único que no me convence, tiene espacio la música pero no la suficiente, esta es una desventaja común en audífonos cerrados y no es exclusiva de este modelo. Quieres escuchar musica eléctronica de artistas como Conforce o Joy Orbison, no te decepcionarán, quieres escuchar musica experimental o trip-hop como Bjork o Portishead, no te decepcionarán, Hip Hop de los noventa como Outkast o Black Moon, tambien suena bien. El rock de todas las epocas y generos suena bastante bien, así como la musica Jazz (Nina Simone, Chet Baker), NO recomiendo estos audífonos para musica que tenga un bass demasiado presente, como el Hip Hop Moderno de artistas como Ty Dolla Sign o Drake, la musica clásica suena bastante bien aunque por momentos géneros como la ópera pueden perder brillo dado el poco soundstage como ya mencionaba, y algunas resonancias presentes en notas complejas (principalmente con voces femeninas como Mirella Freni o Tatiana Troyanos) . De igual forma las voces en casi todos los generos tienen una potencia y una textura bastante exquisita.

"These look stunning", were the first words I said when I first opened my Sennheiser Momentum carrying case. Quick note before I begin, for those on the fence whether to get the ebony color vs the black or green, let me say this, it looks very stylish and the quality is absolutely superb if you get the ebony. Now on to the review.The weight is lovely. It doesn't feel like cheap light plastic nor is it overly heavy. The steel and leather create a great weight and a wonderful sturdiness. There are no rattling pieces hanging or attached to these cans nor is there a stitch out of place on the fine leather. I'm not really a stickler when it comes to overall quality in manufacturing as I believe sound quality takes precedent.....but my god, these are as much a pleasure to handle as they are to listen to.Granted, the ear cuff is quite small, but since I have tiny ears my ears feel wonderful with these on. I strongly recommend you try a pair first, if able of course.The sound quality is very, very good. I'm not talking high-end audiophile quality that would inevitably require an amp and a premium sound system, but these cans are designed to be connected to a portable device like an I-pod and used out in the public. Keeping that in mind, when used with a portable device these headphones are as good as it can get without the use of additional power like an amplifier. Now some headphones out there like a NAD VISO HP50 may have a better sound stage, but the build quality is nowhere close and the sound is quite comparable overall....to my ears at least. I just feel good wearing these and feel even better when I hear the quality of sound that emits from these beauties. That, teamed with the smell of fine stitched leather that rests on your head, and you know you've made a great purchase.*NOTE: These headphones are not to be used for those who mostly listen to electric dance/club music.* They in no way have "weak" base but it wouldn't rattle your brain like the V-Moda M100's would. It's a subtle and smooth base.I highly recommend the Sennheiser Momentum's for those looking for a pure quality headphone. They are expensive, and if it's too much for your wallet, I can recommend you hold off for a holiday sale like Black Friday or Boxing Day where these will drop in price by roughly $80. Any bit helps. But, if you are far from those holidays and your wanting these right now, purchase them, love them, and they will be yours for many years to come.Hoped this review helped you. Possesseur du PC360 et du HD598 de la même marque, ce casque est utilisé pour un usage au boulot et dans la rue.Il isole parfaitement bien de l'extérieur, le son est dans la lignée des casques cités précédemment et il est très confortable.Les câbles sont très solides, pour m'être pris les pieds dedans plusieurs fois lorsqu'il était branché sur mon PC, il ne montre toujours pas de signe d'usure après plus d'un an d'usage quotidien !A acheter les yeux fermés pour ceux qui aiment la qualité Sennheiser !

ATTENTION : Cet avis concerne la version CIRCUM AURAL du Momentum. (Le GROS quoi...)La note moyenne du produit concerne les deux versions du casque, je ne sais pas trop pourquoi, car ce sont des produits bien différents (un petit effort Amazon?).Et je ne me considère pas comme un audiophile, ni comme un spécialiste du son. Je suis juste un Gus parmi tant d'autres, qui à plutôt une bonne oreille, et qui est du genre consommateur en attente d'un "retour sur investissement".Passons aux choses sérieuses voulez-vous :pLe Sennheiser Momentum est un Casque Nomade d'exception, tant au design, à la finition et surtout à la qualité sonore !Amateurs de grosses basses, passez votre chemin ! C'est un casque axé au son neutre, avec une précision de folie !Son (Excellent) : Précision mortelle !! le Momentum sait tout faire, aucun style de musique n'est épargné !Combiné à un "vieux" Cowon S9, avec l'égaliseur réglé au poil, et des morceaux allant du mp3 320kbs au FLAC.Les voix et les instruments sont trop bien restitués, tant dans les mix/instrus de hip-hop, ou bien dans un bon vieux Tchaikovsky. Les percussions claquent d'une puissance telle que les frissons remontent ! C'est un pur orgasme pour mes oreilles :)J'écoute de tout : RnB, Rap, Electro, Rock, Pop, Classique,... tout passe, les aigus et médiums sont très précises, les basses sont non seulement précises, mais douces à la fois, et sans être trop profondes. Elles ne saturent en rien le son.Sachez toutefois qu'il faut une bonne sortie audio pour en profiter, si vous restez sur votre smartphone avec des mp3 en 128kbs ou sur du Deezer au son plat, partez vers un casque beaucoup moins cher. ça ne sert à rien d'investir autant si vous avez une sortie médiocre, car vous n'entendrez quasiment rien en différence.Son point fort est aussi son point faible, car sa précision est telle que les défauts d'encodage vont se faire entendre (souffle, grésillements, etc...) !Isolation (Moyen à Bon) : J'ai vu mieux, à titre de comparaison, un Momentum isole moins bien qu'un Beats Studio/Solo par exemple.A vide, il n'isole pas tant que ça. c'est comment dire, un peu bouché...Je peux comprendre les gens parler sans trop me concentrer sur ce qu'ils disent.à 50% du volume, je ne les entends plus, à moins de crier devant moi. Je peux aussi distinguer les bruit de métro grincer autour de moi, les sonnettes de fermeture de portes et les annonces de haut-parleur, sauf que je pige que dalle :pC'est pas trop un problème vu qu'on peut augmenter le son pour mieux s'isoler. L'isolation n'est pas totale si on est vraiment concentré sur l'environnement, mais ça n'empêche pas de profiter de la bonne musique, déjà qu'à 70% du volume je suis sur un autre monde...Je m'attendais quand même à un peu mieux sur ce point là. Mais si vous cherchez VRAIMENT l'isolation, partez vers un casque à isolation ACTIVE !Confort (Médiocre à Bon) : J'avais un avis assez mitigé du confort de ce casque aux premières semaines suivant l'achat.Le casque me faisait vraiment mal à l'oreille droite au bout de 30 min d'écoute, je devais l'enlever ou l'ajuster pour apaiser la douleur c'était vraiment pénible et j'étais vraiment déçu sur ce point. Un casque nomade doit avant tout avoir un confort optimisé pour les long trajets et ce n'était vraiment pas gagné. Je n'étais pas satisfait.Au bout de 3 semaines d'utilisation, je n'ai plus senti aucune douleur lors de mes trajets quotidiens. Je ne saurais vous dire si c'est par habitude, ou bien si l'usure a fait qu'il y ait moins de pression. Mais à moment où je vous écris, ça va beaucoup mieux.Bref, si on oublie les douleurs, le confort est bon, le cuir des oreillettes est doux et je me sens à l'aise avec le casque.Par contre, comme tout bon casque fermé, il tient chaud aux oreilles ! Si cet inconvénient vous dérange VRAIMENT, partez vers un casque OUVERT ou SUPRA-AURAL.Attention quand même pour les gens qui ont d'assez grandes oreilles (comme moi !), vous allez peut-être galérer avec les douleurs les premières semaines, et le casque ne recouvre pas totalement les oreilles. C'est paradoxal pour un casque dit CIRCUM !Voilà, je vous ai avertis !Ergonomie (Moyen) : Le casque n'a aucun problème pour régler la taille de la tête, il suffit simplement de glisser les oreillettes dans les "barres" afin d'ajuster la longueur. C'est pratique et ça marche bien, en gros c'est comme régler un HD 25 mais en plus stylé ;)Le problème est que ce casque nomade ne se PLIE PAS, donc si vous avez des petits sacs a main, vous serez bien emm*** !Sennheiser à corrigé ce défaut dans la version 2 du Momentum, par contre va falloir mettre 100 boules de plus pour cette version !La housse rigide fournie n'est pas transportable non plus, ce machin est vraiment balèze !Mention négative pour la télécommande du câble : il est uniquement compatible iPhone/iPad ! Pour les possesseurs d'Android ou baladeurs classiques, ce ne sera malheureusement qu'un vulgaire "accessoire de mode"...Finition (Très Bon) : La classe !! De l'acier brossé combiné au cuir, on sent la bonne qualité de finition ! Rien ne fait cheap, on à bien a faire à un casque de QUALITAYYYYY ^^Et ce design mon dieu, il est bôôôôôôô !!! le Momentum, c'est comme un jean, c'est sobre et indémodable !!En plus je l'ai pris en marron, c'est tellement vintage, c'est tellement classe !!Le câble n'a pas l'air très solide par contre, il est composé d'une surface anti-dérapante dont je ne vois pas trop l'utilité, il est assez fin aussi.Heureusement qu'il est remplaçable par un 2.5 to 3.5 mm mâle/mâle si je dis pas de bêtises.Bref, je kiffe !Rapport qualité/prix (Moyen à Correct) : Le casque était annoncé à environ 300e lors de sa sortie. Je ne les aurais jamais achetés à ce prix là perso, c'est beaucoup trop et pas du tout abordable pour un casque nomade !Je l'aurais situé vers les 170e (comme le HD II 25, qui est excellent au passage !).Actuellement à 200e ça va, si vous l'utilisez tous les jours et que vous en êtes satisfaits, considérez cet achat comme LARGEMENT rentable.Conclusion : Après 1 mois d'utilisation intensive, je dois reconnaître que je suis très satisfait de cet achat, Excellente qualité audio pour le bonheur de mes oreilles, bonne isolation pour mes trajets quotidiens, confort maintenant satisfaisant, je pense que tout est dit.Je mets un 5 car il correspond parfaitement à mes besoins, et ses défauts ne me dérangent en rien.Je souligne quand même que acheter un casque à ce prix là est un réel investissement.Donc si vous êtes un grand fan de musique comme moi, sachez que, il ne faut pas oublier que votre plaisir sera largement plus grand, si vous acceptez de mettre un peu plus d'argent dans un objet que vous utiliserez au quotidien ! (bon j'avoue, elle vient pas de moi celle là, mais elle m'a tellement touché ^^)Bref, merci d'avoir lu ce pavé.

Er ist zwar ein wenig teuer, aber natürlich auch richtig hochwertig.Da meine HD 449 schon etwas älter waren und auch schon teilweise ziemlich mitgenommen aussahen, wollte ich upgraden auf diese hier (Over-Ear-Version). Das Geld war es mir wert. Und als ich sie endlich hatte, und testete, wurde ich auch nicht enttäuscht.Der Sound im Gegensatz zu meinen alten HD 449 war auf jeden Fall ein Stück besser, vorallem bei den Höhen. Überrascht hat mich die Tatsache, dass ich jetzt gar keinen Equalizer mehr einstellen musste (nirgendswo), denn der Sound passt genau so, wie er ist. Das liegt vorallem daran, dass die Momentum einen perfekt abgestimmten Bass haben. (Für mich jedenfalls). Ich höre hauptsächlich auf meinem PC, jedoch war der Sound auf meinem 130€-MP3-Player sogar noch besser.Dazu muss ich noch sagen, dass diese Kopfhörer einfach nur der Hammer sind, was die geschlossene Bauform angeht. Es so gut wie garnichts nach draußen, selbst bei lauter Musik. Das war für mich einer der wichtigsten Kaufgründe.Von der Verarbeitung natürlich TOP, wie immer bei Sennheiser. Das Kabel wird warscheinlich genauso viel aushalten, wie mein altes. Denn dort bin ich schon locker 10mal mit meinem Stuhl drübergefahren (Kein Teppich-Boden!). Das schicke Elfenbein-Design sieht wirklich, also wirklich gut aus. Vorallem mit dem Leder. Verstellen lassen sich die Hörer sehr einfach, einfach schieben. Das Kabel lässt sich tauschen, falls eins kaputt geht oder falls man das Mikrofon + die Tasten nicht braucht. Es liegt auch ein einfaches Kabel bei.Mir fiel es wirklich schwer mich dann aber von diesem Kopfhörer zu trennen. Nach einer Zeit merkte ich nämlich, dass sie auf meinen Ohren sehr drücken. Das fängt so nach einer Stunde spätestens an. Eine Woche habe ich versucht, den perfekten Sitz zu finden. Jedoch aussichtslos. Musste sie dann leider zurückgeben. Ich weiß auch nicht, warum sie drücken. Ich denke, es liegt an meinen Ohren, die vll ein wenig zu Groß sind oder so. Meine alten Sennheiser HD 449 hatten größere Muscheln und haben garnicht gedrückt.Schade, schade. Ich hätte sie so gerne behalten..Ich kann sie trotzdem jedem empfehlen, bei dem sie nicht drücken.5/5
