Best binoculars I have ever owned.
These are the best binoculars I've ever owned. As a senior, I enjoy sitting on my porch watching the birds at our garden feeders, as well as bird watching at the local preserves. Celestron has always been a quality name in optics, and these do not disappoint. The clarity is excellent, are easy to focus, and the rubberized housing makes it easy to keep a good, steady grip on them, and they are light weight. Add to that the assurance of having a Lifetime US Warranty as well as expert tech support make these the last pair of binoculars I will ever have.

I think this is one of the best value binoculars you can buy for the price.
I think this is one of the best value binoculars you can buy for the price. The image is clear and bright, the 10x42 size feels very balanced for both outdoor activities and general use, and it works great for birding, hiking, camping, and travel. The binoculars feel solid in hand without being overly expensive, and the overall optical quality is much better than I expected at this price range. For anyone looking for a reliable entry-to-mid level binocular without spending premium-brand money, this is probably one of the highest value options available online right now.

Pretty good, but not great.
I gave this product 4 stars and I'd say that is "genrous". My main beef is that the diopters are NOT continuously adjustable. The diopter adjustments are kinda hokey ... hard to describe. They have exactly 4 detents ... they click 3 times, between extremes. Going to one extreme will "telescope" the eye-cup" almost 1/2", in length. So ... if one diopter is at minumum and the other is at maximum ? ... ... there is a half inch difference, in length, with one cup at min and the other at max. This is a bit odd and also restricts acheiving "purely perfect" focus, for both eyes. ALL THAT said ... I am generally pleased, with this product. These binoculars are compact. They are also lighter, than most. Not too fragile ... ~but~ .. not exactly heavy duty, either. The glass is clear and bright ... Eye position and "brow-bracing" are fairly critical. I'd prolly get something else, if I could, but I am not terribly disappointed, either. Just a few annoying ergonomic issues that I am not getting used to. They work good, though. I'll be VERY generous and give them 4 stars, because of size, weight, image and price. As a hiker/camper, on a budget, these will do just fine. Would not take them to sea !

Wonderfully clear in bright light; super value.
I have a relatively inexpensive Celestron 130EQ reflector telescope, which we enjoy using. Although it was fairly cheap, it has pretty good optics, is well constructed, and has functioned flawlessly for these past few years. Still, I was concerned that these Celestron Outland 10x42 binoculars were just too inexpensive to be worth buying. After all, to get multi-coated lenses, BaK-4 prisms, and be waterproof & fogproof, you'd expect to pay at least $100 [based on my shopping around], even if the binoculars are Chinese manufactured. I am happily surprised. These binoculars are extremely clear, with great color rendition. I like that the objective lens and "rainguard" eyepiece covers are attached/tethered to the binocular [objective lens]/neck strap [eyepiece]. The focusing and diopter adjusment [right eyepiece} are smooth. I did measure the eyecup range; I measured about 8 mm of range from retracted to extended; there are 3 "detents" in this range. I had no trouble using sunglasses with the eyecups retracted. Based on the very good optics/prisms, smooth & quick focusing, and "extras" like the case, lens caps, and fogproofing & waterproofing [though I didn't actually dunk the binoculars in water, ], I could certainly recommend these binoculars.

Celestron Outland X 10x42 Binoculars
I almost didn't purchase this product because of the way the ocular adjustment was described in the review by "Hard Core Camper". However, knowing that Celestron has the reputation of producing what are normally high quality optics, I couldn't believe that adjusting the right eyecup could potentially force a person to have one eyecup as much as a 1/2 inch out of alignment with the other eyecup. Therefore, I took a chance and ordered the Outland X binoculars and I'm glad I did. For this price, I would defy anyone to find a better pair of binoculars on the market. For their size, they are relatively light weight and they produce crystal clear images. They come with protective coverings for the eyecups as well as the lenses and they are easy to focus. I live in FL where you frequently go from indoor air conditioning to outdoor locations that are hot and muggy and I have not experienced any noticeable fogging of the lenses. I think where "Hard Core Camper" went wrong was in the misunderstanding that when the principal focus wheel is adjusted, it should be done so in a manner that gives the left eye the best possible focus. Then, if the right eye is not in focus, yes, you must adjust that by turning the right eyepiece. While that can make the right eyepiece extend as much as about a 1/2 inch closer to your eye, depending upon upon how much turning it takes to give the right eye the the best focus, you can then turn the left eyepiece out to match the distance of the right eyecup. Turning the left eyepiece out WILL NOT change the focus of the left eye. It is simply an accommodation so that both eyecups are made equidistant from the binocular body. The bottom line is, you DO NOT have to be left with eyepieces that are misaligned. Overall, I think you will be very satisfied with these binoculars.

I am happy with my purchase.
I'm a photographer -- yes, a professional and I have been for years. But binoculars are something new for me. I suppose I could have used one of my long lenses on one of my camera bodies but I like the idea of the binoculars on my side table to grab at a moments notice. We have a large sliding glass door looking out on the backyard. I have multiple bird feeders out and these binoculars are very handy. These took a bit of getting use to and adjustment for field of view but now that I've got it down I'm very happy. I wear glasses and have no trouble either with glasses on or off. They are a bit heavy and bigger than I thought they'd be when I ordered them. I also probably should have gotten the 8x42 instead of the 10x42. But I know how to hold them to reduce shaky images. The construction is solid. Love the rubberized body for grip. And I cannot say enough about the quality of the glass. Things are very clear with good contrast. Lens caps are easy to deal with and the front lens caps are not permanently attached, as another reviewer noted, and can be fully removed if you so choose. I expect I'll not be buying another pair anytime soon. But I'd buy these again if need be. Good price for good quality.

If sand and grit get in them, get another pair.
I suppose I am spoiled, as I am an optics guy and got to play with a friend's Monarch 5 10X42, which was much better in every way, but these little binocs are still useful for birding, wildlife viewing, etc. Falloff gets noticeable at about 10 percent from the edge of the lens, the prisms aren't the brightest but still nice, you can see crisp images through them with some quick adjustments, and they come with a little neckstrap and eyepiece and frontpiece covers. Images don't quite pop, but are still clearly rendered. Lenses seem to bring out the greens and blues quite well. The front lens covers hang down and don't detach, which is a nice addition, but the rear eye covers detach. The build quality is decent, but don't get me wrong--these are no 300 dollar binoculars and won't compare at all to them. My pair is a little stiff in the right hand focus ring on the back and slightly loose in the focusing wheel. The eyepieces at the rear extend with a twist, to shade your eyes a bit from surrounding light. They are amazing in one way, and in a good way: they are inexpensive, which means that you can throw them in your bag or on the car seat next to you as you head out into parts unknown and have little fear of ruining an expensive piece of equipment. I've found myself taking them to view seals at the beach, leaving them on the dashboard while driving off road, and generally exposing them to the elements. After an especially bouncy cross-country ride after several months of having them I noticed that there was a slightly greater purple diffraction in the right lens, probably from all the shaking. Ruined? Nah. And if sand and grit get in them, get another pair. General size rule for the 42 sized binoculars: 8X42: good for close-ups and birding when they are moving fast, say from tree to tree. Catch greater light. 10X42: best long range for hand-held, slightly less light. Good all-around viewing. 12X42: bench rest them for the greatest IQ gains, somewhat long distance, less light is caught. If Celestron made an Outland X 12X42 I'd probably buy it. Have money to spare? Get some Nikons or Leupolds.

Great for bird watching
Have never used binoculars before so did not know what to expect and hire to use them. A novice birder I never understood the benefit of over of these until I actually used one. These binoculars are impressive and the view through the lens puts my camera to shame. Love them.
