Throw distance: will it project image within 12ft of screen/wall?

Yes, it will. The futher back the projector is the larger the image will be. As a rule of thumb, at some point depending on the projector you will loss some brightness and image quality. At 12ft this will look super sharp and bright with no issues at all. I set this up for my brother and his is about 14-16ft(sorry don't remember exact) from the wall and looks amazing. This is a great projector, there is no need to spend much more. Don't be fooled by lots of the specs that may make you want to spend more. I have done lots of research. This was a great choice. Wiil the zoom provide for a 87" screen from 10'?

Yes very easily.. You can go to a 12' + screen with no issues. You just need the length of the room to be able to go back further enough. The rule of thumb for these type of projectors the further you go back the larger the image. For 87" you may need 8-10' from the wall(I didnt look up the throw specs but you can find and this could be less). Also just fyi the larger the image or bigger you want to make it at some point and depending on which projector you can or will lose image brightness(this is why Lumens is important). With this projector you will have slim to no issues. Just wanted people to understand a bit more on this set up.

How can I enable audio from my stereo to the projector?

Not sure why you would want to, it has a crappy little speaker, but you'd usually want to route your audio from the projector to a stereo/home entertainment system...If you need to for some obscure reason, use the audio parts of the component video input (the red/yellow audio left/right sockets)

why idnt my audio working

Check if your audio is set as passthrough on HDMI through your player(av device/firestick/pc/roku).if not your audio will play through that device output.if it is not the reason and cables are all good then something might be faulty as well.
