5 Stars all the way around. This kit is the perfect beginner set. everybody who has given this a 4 star review has set their expectations way too high for the price that is being paid. This may not be the brightest kit or most sturdy, but it does get the job done. This is perfect for lighting smaller areas. The difference this makes when going from regular room lighting (Ceiling lights) to having this kit a tremendous. For $49.99 I now have everything I need to get good lighting and take pro quality photos and videos. The fact that this kit comes with a bag, 3 light fixtures, stands, and bulbs is proof that you can not go wrong with this item. I would definitely recommend this if you are in the beginning stages of photography and video or need a cheap travel kit. With Amazon Prime I received 2 day shipping for free which you cannot beat. This gets my approval and I hope this helps all of you make your decision in purchasing this product.

I had another kit I bought that had a one high wattage bulb, a large stand, light socket and umbrella holder, 2 spots and white diffusion umbrella. It was great, but I needed more fill light. Just like that one, these appear to be from the same exact specs and manufactured in China. While they are not professional grade that you would want to setup and teardown all the time, they do extremely well in a studio environment where you don't tear the setup down. The locking mechanisms work fine and are easy to use. I haven't broke one yet, even from the older set that is several months old. Don't expect this to be your primary light source. You'll need another bulb or different lighting setup. But the price is unbelievable for all the items you get.

If you're reading this review then you've obviously been looking for a lighting kit but have been struck with a 50/50 chance of getting crappy lights. This is the problem with Amazon reviews, somebody receives a broken bulb with a fully functional kit but gives a 1 Star rating. I'm here to tell you that the people who give a kit like this a 1 Star rating because of a bad bulb or a missing part tend to go over board with their reviews. Yes, it's unfortunate, but I received everything today, all the bulbs worked perfectly fine. The stands are great for the price, very solid, they don't feel cheap at all. Everything fits in the bag nicely which is a plus but if you plan to use these outdoors then I would look else where. Their best use is indoors and the biggest complaint is that the bulbs do not produce enough light and I agree to some extent but a quick stop at Home Depot will solve your problem. This a great kit for those who know how to use it. Give it time, get some higher quality bulbs and you will not be disappointed.

Just received, shipped on time as promised. Packaged well, all items in separate boxes. The light stands are a very nice quality. I CFL are ok, I well replace these later for now their fine. As mentioned in other reviews "Keep the boxes"! It making storage much easier. I will be using the lights soon and will update my review. As of right now I'm pleased with everything and you can't beat the price. Just tried the lights, if you let the CFL warm up they put out a nice light , could be a little brighter, easy to set up and move. I recommend that you put an extension cord in the bag and a power strip. The light socket cords are long but not long enough.

1 of the stands the screw is not in the right place. Not a big deal and I could fix that, but 1 of the 3 light fixtures is broken which means it needs to be replaced. there is no replacement option so I have to pack up the entire kit and send back to amazon for a refund. That being said I will order another set. It is a decent 3 light setup.

The price that you are paying for this thing is just insane. With that said you are basically paying for two good metal 7" stands and a 3-4" front metal front stand. The bulbs, Tote, and sockets you can say they throw it for free. Mine came perfectly wrapped, on time and with out any missing parts. This is a beginners set so people expecting professional quality for $49 are just plain mad for $49 you cannot get even a professional Bulb. This is excellent set for a basic three point lighting kit. if you want to know about three point lightning go here: [...] Some recommendations before using this. 1. Don't trash the boxes that come within the tote it helps you to handle and storage all the equipment better and keep it protected from scratches etc. With the boxes you can put all those things back in the tote easily. 2. DO NOT FORCE THE KNOTS AND BOLTS to keep the lights/umbrellas on place they are made of plastic and will break be gentle with them or they will break. the parts are made of plastic and very light so you don't need that much force. The positives 1. Great stands that cost much more than $49. 2. Excellent set for a basic three point lightning. 3. Cables are long and have enough length to run around a small room. (what this lights are for) Neutral 1. Some people complained about the lights not being powerful enough. With that concern I went to Home Depot and spent $10 getting two 75 watt day light bulbs, they spread light about the same amount than the lights that come with the set. For a small setting these lights are bright enough. 2. Tote. if you keep your boxes then you can put everything back inside with ease. Do not force the zipper and it will last and make very easy to transport the equipment, it is not the strongest tote ever but it does it's job. Not so good: 1. Well for $49 you can't complain that much but al the bolts and knobs to tight the lights sockets, umbrellas, etc. are made of plastic. if you try to tighten them too hard they will break, they are plastic! just be careful (you don't need to tight these things too hard) 2. Umbrellas seem cheap but they do the job of diffusing the light and not shoot it directly to the subject creating that "deer spooked by a headlight" effect. This is an indoor, studio type, lightning set. it was not made for outdoor use.it will improve dramatically the quality of your photos/video in low light conditions like living rooms, kitchens, media rooms, etc. Don't spend thousands of dollars on a camera that captures low light conditions instead spend $49 and get this and keep that budget camera in use.
